Crisp-Air Pty Ltd is a Brisbane based manufacturer that started business in 1981 and has expanded to have two premises located at 11-17 Colebard Street, East; Acacia Ridge, Qld 4110. The combined undercover area is in excess of 5,000M2. Crisp-Air specialises in application specific (refrigerated transport bodies), purpose built (air conditioning and cabin design and construct for labour saving machinery –EG: front-end-loaders) and mission critical (ambulance air conditioning) applications. Since the beginning, Crisp-Air was at the forefront of air conditioning and refrigeration systems for the transport industry and has numerous prestigious clients on our list, not the least being the Australian Defence Forces, to which Crisp-Air is a preferred supplier.
The air conditioning of cabins on small labour saving machines is complex as it entails the need to reduce the outside (ambient) temperature from an Australian summer +38°C and above with a potential cabin temperature in excess of +60°C to a cabin (environment) comfort of level of around 22°C and keep it there; one must take into consideration that these cabins are less than 3M3 and are manufactured from a large amount of laminated glass for visibility with operator safety and metal for protection. Issues arise related to the quality of air inside such cabins and protecting the health and safety of the driver.
Refrigerated bodies also have issues with keeping a chiller to 4°C and a freezer to -18°C with the need to open side and rear barn doors all too frequently and in all too many cases, installed in a body with inferior thermal qualities. Increasingly the food industry needs assurance that the environment in which goods are transported ensure food safety.
In air conditioning, the most energy and cost efficient method of achieving the desired result of (say) 22°C is to reuse the air in the cabin that is already chilled from the previous cycle (as is done in refrigeration). The downside to this in air conditioning is the gradual build up of carbon dioxide (CO2), a gas that can affect motor skills within the cabin of a car with two occupants within as little as eight minutes of driving with the external air vents closed. Therefore, a dangerous practice with machines that handle containers or load trucks:
CUSTOM BUILT
Australia has uniquely harsh conditions in which vehicles must operate. This develops a need for unique designs to enable an environment inside the vehicle which is safe, comfortable and is environmentally efficient and cost effective. Over the years we have developed dual cab systems for government vehicles, diesel drive bunk units along with systems for multi-purpose vehicles with multiple compartments of varying temperatures.
Crisp-Air's skills have also been employed on numerous projects to meet the specialised requirements of the Australian Defence Force and the Ambulance Service throughout Australia.
AIR CONDITIONING – TRUCKS & VANS
Crisp-Air designs, manufactures and supplies fully integrated and remote(?) special application air conditioning systems and components for most commercially available vehicles adapting them to Australian conditions.
Our expertise has been developed over 25 years and our reputation has been established through supplying air conditioning systems
(i) as original equipment to numerous organisations including; DaimlerChrysler Australia Pacific Armourguard Armoured Vehicles; Brambles Armoured Vehicles; D.A.F. Trucks; M.A.N Australia; Mazda Australia; ; Nissan UD Australia; Nissan UD New Zealand, ASV, and
(ii) as a preferred supplier to the Australian Defence Force and to the Ambulance Services.
REFRIGERATION
Transporting temperature sensitive product is worry-free with Crisp-Air refrigeration systems. We have designed them to suit vehicles from small delivery vans to large rigid trucks with insulated bodies up to 7 metres in length and varying from plus temperatures to minus 18°C.
Crisp-Air refrigeration systems are available in many different configurations. Off engine drive, 12 volt or 24 volt, Electric standby in 240 volt or 415 volt, front wall or underbody fan assisted condensers. Warranty is 12 months or 50,000 Klms. Service is available through a network of authorised Crisp-Air dealers.
ENGINEERED FABRICATED PRODUCTS
To enable Crisp-Air to manufacture the range of air-conditioning and refrigeration products which form the core part of its business, it has invested in fabrication process equipment and developed expertise which enables it to manufacture a range of engineered products for clients such as pipe bending or stainless steel fabrication not necessarily directly related to the aircon and refrigeration industry.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Maintaining a position at the industry's leading edge underlies Crisp-Air's commitment to develop new innovations as part of our ongoing product improvement program.
The Crisp-Air Engineering Department comprises a team of professionals whose role ensures the best quality product is available to our customers at all times. The results of their knowledge, skill and experience are evident in the quality and performance of every system bearing the Crisp-Air name. This team employs in-house CAD as well as external advisors to improve existing systems and design new applications.
