The Crisp-Air Services division works with a philosophy of engineering air conditioning, refrigeration and clean air solutions that can be application specific, purpose built and mission critical.

APPLICATION SPECIFIC

A) Refrigeration:

  • chilled, frozen ,dry goods and other food services
  • variety of vans up to medium size trucks

Example - when an operator requires an insulated body that can have multiple sections such as one section for frozen goods, another for chilled goods and a third section for dry goods. This requires that the different sectors of the vehicles body be dissected to accommodate three different cooling sections from freezing (-18 degrees Celsius), refrigeration (+4 degrees Celsius) to dry goods that may, or may not require to be kept cooler at around a comfortable air conditioning level.

  • ‘standard’ and roof mounted air conditioning, chiller, and freezing systems
  • Off-engine and independently( 240V inverter or tri-fuel generator)  powered

B) Air Conditioning:

  • Rear air systems for buses , people movers etc
  • Cabin cooling for earthmoving equipment, such as various models of Skid-Steers
  • Cabin cooling for material handling equipment, such as large container handlers

Example - This may be a simple rear mounted blower system propelling chilled air towards the front of the people mover to meet with the air exhausted from the vehicles front air system; however some operators may require the rear air to accommodate for the comfort of passengers who may be on the sunny side of the bus and require a higher degree of cooling to the passengers on the shady side of the bus, who could be chilled if the air was to the level set for the passengers on the sunny side.

PURPOSE BUILT

A) Refrigerated Bodies:

  • Refrigerated truck & ute bodies & insulated van linings

B) Air conditioned Cabins:

Purpose built machinery include “skid-steers”, earthmoving equipment, container handling vehicles cranes and like equipment. A number of these vehicles arrive in Australia void of cabins and air conditioning. When the units do arrive with cabins and air, often the air conditioner is rated to a lower ambient temperature than what is routinely experienced in the hotter regions of an Australian summer and do not keep the operator comfortable, nor in an extreme case, safe. In these cases, new Crisp-Air Conditioning systems are installed that assist in handling the harsh Australian summer sun.

To conform to Occupational Workplace Health and Safety, some vehicles will need to have purpose built cabins designed and constructed. This need may arise from a variety of causes:

  • flying/falling objects and projectiles,
  • high dust levels
  • 360 degree high visibility leading to high heat loads on cabin surfaces

And as a result a cabin will need to be designed to create an environment into which the Crisp-Air Conditioning system can be installed and, in some cases, pressurization to keep the inside cabin pressure  higher than the outside air pressure so that dust cannot permeate the cabin.

MISSION CRITICAL
“Mission Critical” covers Ambulances, Fire Engines and some military vehicles. Predominantly in the Air Conditioning sector, in some cases, Mission Critical requires special requirements.

Example - In an Ambulance environment, the driver and paramedic attend to a traumatized person on the side of a road with an ambient temperature of (say) thirty-five (35) degrees Celsius. The body of the Ambulance can be above fifty (50) degrees Celsius, all the doors are open and hot air permeates the cabin. When underway, the objective is patient comfort, therefore there is a need to reduce the inside temperature to comfort as quickly as possible; therefore the air captured within the cabin at the closing of the doors is the air that is to be cooled and recycled again and again for the total journey. Each recycle brings the previously recycled air down closer to the desired temperature far more quickly that bringing in outside air.

Upside - Recycling cools the air more quickly than introducing outside air; and
Reduces the introduction of carbon monoxide.

Downside - Whatever was in the air when the doors are closed is distributed throughout the cabin; Sharing with the driver and paramedic whatever the traumatized patient is exhaling; Build up of CO2 levels, however this could be minimised through the use of Crisp Airgeneering’s clean air technology.

Example - In a bushfire vehicle the vehicle may be fitted with firestorm protection; meaning that should the team be caught in such an event, they climb into the vehicle and all of the windows close, the air conditioning comes on recycle mode and the occupants wait out the fire.

Upside - Recycling the cabin air stops outside particulates from entering the cabin; and the cabin is cooled to counteract the outside temperature during the ordeal.

Downside - Whatever was in the air when the doors are closed is distributed throughout the cabin; Build up of CO2 levels, however this could be minimised through the use of Crisp Airgeneering’s clean air technology.
